Schedule
The Schedule section of SmarterSign Manager is where you control when your content plays on your digital signage screens. Controlling when and where your content plays is one of the most valuable and important aspects of digital signage. SmarterSign gives you robust control of these schedules
How the SmarterSign Manager Scheduler Works
The two main concepts in the SmarterSign SCHEDULE tool are CHANNELS and PLAYLISTS.
What is a CHANNEL?
A Channel works similar to how a television channel works. You will create a schedule of content using PLAYLISTS on a channel. Every screen on your network must be set to watch a CHANNEL. This is how you will get the content you want on the individual screens on your network. You select the CHANNEL that your screen is watching from the HOME screen under the section MY DIGITAL SIGNS.
There are two types of CHANNELS that can be created in SmarterSign. A standard channel allow you to schedule playlists with a specific date and time range. The ADVANCED SCHEDULER is design with slots that can have individual playlists scheduled on them. This type of scheduler is typically used by businesses that are monetizing their screen time inventory, such as a digital billboard company. To find out more about these two CHANNEL types, see MANAGE CHANNELS.
What is a PLAYLIST?
A PLAYLISTS is a selection of one or more PROGRAMS or media files that are set to play during a specific date and time range. This is the primary scheduling concept in SmarterSign. To find out more about how these work see CREATING AND EDITING PLAYLISTS
The image above shows the view inside of a Standard Schedule. You will notice the color blocks on the calendar view. These represent playlists of content. Creating a new playlist or editing a playlist (by double clicking on one of the existing playlists) will open the PLAYLIST EDITOR
Key SCHEDULE functions
Inside each CHANNEL view you will see several buttons that will help you navigate and control your schedules:
NEW PLAYLIST: This will allow you to create a new playlist
EDIT PLAYLIST: Clicking this button will open the playlist editor of any selected playlist. You can also double click on the playlist to open the playlist editor
DUPLICATE: This will allow you to use the selected playlist as a starting point for a new playlist with all of the items already set.
DELETE: This will delete your playlist
Advanced Schedule Only
SPLIT: This will split the selected playlist so the slot can be shared between two different content providers or advertisers
DEFAULT DURATION: Setting this will change the default duration of all items on all of your playlists unless they have been manually overriden.
Adding/Removing/Reordering slots
To modify slots in an ADVANCED SCHEDULE, you can do the following:
Add a slot - Use the plus button below all of the existing slots to add a new slot
Reorder or Delete a Slot - Use the buttons to the left of a slot to move it up or down in the order or remove it from the schedule
