Player Settings

The Player Settings control allows you to configure and customize individual player devices in your SmarterSign network.

Accessing Player Settings

To access the settings for a specific player, go to the HOME screen and under the MY DIGITAL SIGNS section location the Player you wich to edit. Click on the SETTINGS button Settings Button to open the PLAYER SETTINGS control window.

  1. Player Details: Here you will set the Player Name and Description for your Player. Naming conventions and good descriptions become very important with larger networks.

  2. Location: This feature is only used for multi-location businesses connected to a POS. This control will allow you to select the proper location within the POS data.

  3. Player Type and Status: This information will show you the type of license you have, when the Player was last updated and online. You can also select to enable or disable reporting from this control.

    REPORTING is typically only used for businesses that monetize the screen inventory for with advertising clients. There may be additional charges incurred if this is set to "Enabled". By default it is set to "Disabled".

  4. PAIR/UNPAIR PLAYER: This is where you can UNPAIR a player if you would like to pair it to another license.

  5. SOFTWARE/HARDWARE PROFILE: Here you can see the Software platform and operating system as well as the software version and MAC ADDRESS for the machine.

    The MAC ADDRESS is sometimes usefull for IT organizations to location a device on the network.

  1. Screen Controls: These buttons will allow you to move the screens forward Screen Forward Button or backward Screen Backward Button in the order of presentation, as well as EDIT SCREEN properties or DELETE SCREEN.

  2. Screen Preview: These diagrams show the aspect ration of the screen and provides the details of width, height, X location, and Y location.

    Screens refer to a section of your total display space on which content can be managed separately. The x and y location of the screens refers to where the top/left corner of the screen will start in the total screen space for your display(s).

  3. ADD SCREEN: This button will allow you to add a new Screen to your Player.

    When you click the SAVE AND PUBLISH button, the changes you have made will be sent to the screen. You may notice a section of the screen that has the SmarterSign logo. This will appear until you assign a CHANNEL to your new Screen(s) in the MY DIGITAL SIGNS section of the HOME screen.

This control will allow you to add a new screen to your Player. The settings will include the following:

  • Name: What your screen will be called in the system
  • Width: The width in pixels of your screen
  • Height: The height in pixels of your screen
  • X location: The left edge of your screen in pixels in your total display space
  • Y location: The top edge of your screen in pixels in your total display space

Rotation Drop-Down: This is a control for very specific types of screen/player environments and should not be used by most users. This is typically configured by SmarterSign in conjunction with the end-user
